- There Is No August Recap -

-> A LACK OF MONTHLY PROGRESS is something I promised you. Good news! I can keep this one. I didn’t accomplish much in August. I have nothing to wax poetic over. Another month passed in the pursuit of continued survival; work and consumption and sleep. I’m not dead!

More to wit, I suffered an altogether more surprising LACK OF PLANNING-PROGRESS. Maybe it’s because I never managed to hang my new whiteboard…but more likely is the fact that for the first time in my adult life, I have a handful of scoped projects that I could very well make meaningful progress on, I just fail to find the time to do it. Responsibilities!

M4 is still deep, deep in rearchitecting. I'm trying really hard to systemize and componentize any reusables, and so I'm actually trapped in the same place I was in Foundations - UI. It's always UI. I do this for work! Let me out!

Foundations is also a UI diff. I will once again acquire the ravenous energy necessary to go set up conditional panels and fix scaling issues this month. I am manifesting this energy.

In terms of what I've wasted my time on - this is a blog, yeah? I can talk about worthless shit if I want to! - I've been playing a bit of Kingdom Death: Monster again, which is a very...odd game. It's far and above my favorite board game, but I mostly only like strange things (for the wrong reasons), and this is no exception.

I want to write a bit about the design of it at some point, it's a very interesting game, but I don't think I have a clear enough understanding of all its intricacies to really do that justice. Go read fenpaints' writeups on patreon, they're great.

What I have been lightly working on (sorry), though, is a dedicated tracker for it. This is because KD:M is an old, majorly unfulfilled kickstarter monolith, and there appears to be no cohesive and easily-navigated source of truth for all the game's content, released or unreleased. There's wikis and model trackers and recap posts, but it's intimidating to attempt to evaluate what exists and how accessible it is without just asking someone who knows more. It seems like an easy task to pull and source all unified info into one view, so I'm giving it a shot.

Also - it's September 8th. I've been playing a lot of SIlksong. It's a very good game. Like any good game released under staggering and irrational hype-pressure, the discourse is almost more interesting than the game itself. More on that soon.

Love ya lots! Sorry!
